Day 32: Fri Aug 22, 1997

 We tried the motel breakfast, not much to eat if you try to eat healthy, not bad if you like junk food. We had an 8:30 appointment at Efird's garage for an oil change so that was our first stop of the day. Scott Efird was there and we talked to him while he changed our oil. His brother Danny was also there at first but we didn't recognize him with his short hair, hadn't seen him since 1990 and even then only once in awhile. Our next stop was Walgreen's to drop off a couple rolls of film for one hour processing while we went up the mountain to visit Sunspot. I worked at Sunspot for a year, 1989-1990. It's a solar observatory and the opportunity came up as part of my job. So we knew a lot of people there and hoped to see at least some of them. At first we couldn't find anybody we knew but after awhile started coming across a few. We found Ray Smartt; he was director when we were there. He wanted to visit but at the same time a TV reporter came by for a tour, so we tagged along. Then he had to spend some time with his student so we went off and visited others for awhile. We found Phil Wiborg in his office at Hilltop Dome and enjoyed some time with him. We also found Tex in his office back at the main lab; he went and got his wife and kids. We finally got to visit with Ray Smartt and showed him some web pages. He thought some of the ideas might be useful for the new visitor's center. He also brought us some sandwiches he made for us when he found out we hadn't eaten lunch. After visiting him we went back to the car, ate the sandwiches and went to the new visitor's center. We saw Mary McGraw there, we had wanted to visit her but Bob, her husband was off at a class and we didn't know if she would remember us, so it was nice to find her there, and she did remember us. We then went back down the mountain to town. We picked up the photos, they looked good. We ate at Margo's again, went back to the produce place (I went to Hastings), then back to the motel.
