Day 26: Sat Aug 16, 1997
Left the motel shortly after 8 am and headed east on I-10 to Palm Desert to meet Helen Hayes. We followed her directions, and went up to apartment #5 and knocked. No response and it looked empty inside, her car was not around either. That was a bit odd so we went to a phone nearby and called. She said we were at the wrong place, we had gone just a bit too far and went back and found her. She then drove us to Dr. Loraine Day's place for church. Dr. Day is a very interesting person and has her own web page. She had cancer and was supposed to have surgery and chemotherapy. She refused to go along with this and fought off the cancer with a diet change and is now recovered. I had picked up one of her books several years before while on a field test. It discussed the dangers of AIDS, she was an orthopedic surgen at a large hospital in San Francisco and had a lot of experience with that disease. I had also seen one of her videos. After the church service almost everybody in the small group came by to talk with us, they were very friendly, and we even got two offers of places to stay. I had mentioned my web pages and Dr. Day was interested in seeing them so we looked at one on CD ROM. She also told us some of her interesting ideas on some Bible topics. I didn't agree with everything but she is very sharp and very interesting and it was hard to leave. We finally did, and Helen had an excellent lunch for us. We visited with Helen so long she told us to stay for the night. We didn't want to be any trouble but she insisted and we did. We didn't leave until the next day, not early. She was getting a degree in nutrition, and showed us books and videos, a very interesting one by Dr. Klaper, don't miss it. She also had Sharleen do our laundry there. I scanned some images in.
