Day 15: Tue Aug 5, 1997
I kept getting told to come eat breakfast as I checked my email. Never did get breakfast, email comes first. I'm monitoring my AVHRR data backup at work and always check to make sure it worked. It happens automatically twice a day (3:30 am and pm) and sends me email. So far it has changed tapes several times and all is working. Judi left for work, Stephenie, her 9th grader was still there, as we left she was trying to put back together a couple video tapes she had taken apart, all the little pieces kept falling out of place when she tried to put it together.
We headed north on Rt 36, then west through Rocky Mountain National Park. But it rained the whole way, sometimes hard, and was too cloudy to see any of the high peaks. We did take a picture of some wet mountain goats. We stopped at the visitor's center briefly. It was very crowded and we had trouble parking and got soaked walking from the car. The scenery would have been spectacular, in one place the land droppd off on both sides of the road and we had snow around us at times. We continued through the park and picked up Rt. 40 west. Crossed the continental divide a couple times, then drove through Steamboat Springs. That was too expensive so we continued on to Craig where we stayed for the night. No problem getting a decent computer connection. I scanned in some images from our second roll so I could work on them in the car.
