White areas are clouds.
The horizontal dark band through the middle of this image is due to
signal problems, either from the satellite or somewhere after reception.
Northern California shows smoke, Nevada shows fire scars.

The large yellow area near the middle of the northern border is
a cloud. It's shadow is visible just to the west of it.
East of this cloud is a streamer of smoke drifting northwest from
a fire.
Last night's view shows the location of this area more clearly, and the
the previous night's view is even better. Both are channel 3.
Near the bottom of this image smoke drifts west from the fires near Yosemite
and then turns north to form a smoke cloud over the Sierras.

last night's channel 3 view which shows fires in the same areas
as appear dark blue in this morning image.

The fire scar is visible on Mesa Verde. Mesa Verde may be located
using the fire scar which is the dark blue spot in southwestern
Colorado (Colorado is the upper right state in this image).

The fire areas are hidden under clouds but fog is seen in the
mountains south of the Tetons (on the Yellowstone image
the fog looks a bit like melted vanilla ice cream).
