TIMED — Closing the Link in the Sun-Earth Connection

Note: You will need special software to view these files. If you do not already have QuickTime installed, you can download it from www.quicktime.com. Microsoft's MediaPlayer can be used to view MPEG files. Additional MPEG players can be found at www.mpeg.org.

How do violent eruptions on the surface of the Sun and human-induced changes to our atmosphere affect life on Earth? What is the Earth's last atmospheric frontier that the TIMED spacecraft will explore during its 2-year mission? Take an in-depth look at the TIMED mission — the first of NASA's Solar Terrestrial Probes — and find out how it will help scientists learn more about this relatively unexplored region of our atmosphere. Total running time is 26 minutes; video is broken into 7 segments.
