During the first 30 days after launch, the TIMED spacecraft and its instruments are turned on and fully checked out. TIMED's Mission Operations personnel will also begin testing the movement of the solar panels and verifying their power levels. Once the check-out process is complete, the spacecraft is declared operational and its science operations begin.
