interoperatiliby" with applications without enforcing a standard format within the
Earth Science community.
DIF
(Directory Interchange Format)
is a data structure used to exchange directory-level information about data sets among
information systems. The DIF is compatible with the FGDC Content Standard on Digital
Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).
