Stokes measurements
This is a typical set of vector polarimetric Stokes images recorded by the FGE vector polarimeter. One full vector polarimetric set was acquired in about 70 seconds, and the measurements were repeated with a cadence of about 3.5 minutes. The Fabry-Perot spectral filter (0.16 Å passband) was positioned at 6122.59 Å, in the red wing of the magnetic sensitive line CaI 6122.5 (Landé factor g = 1.75). Top right: Light intensity (Stokes I); Top left: Circular polarization (Stokes V); Bottom left: Linear polarization "horizontal" ( Stokes Q); Bottom right: Linear polarization at +45° to Stokes Q ( Stokes U ). The distance between tick marks is 1" (on the Sun about 730 Km or 456 mi). Click on the image to view the full resolution version.
