A Large Survey of Electron Acceleration.
9 years of data from 5 DMSP satellites including altogether 152,886,676
individual spectra, were examined for e- acceleration events. As most
researchers suspected, a midday "gap" is real, a "1400 hot spot" does exist,
except it is centered around 1500 MLT and is distinct only for northward IMF,
and a less well known morning "warm spot" exists. A surprise is the
universal tendency for the latitudinal scale lengths to follow an exponential
distribution.
