Magnetometer (MAG) Instrument
The AMPTE CCE Magnetometer instrument
includes a fluxgate magnetometer sensor mounted on a 2 meter boom [Potemra et
al., IEEE Trans. Geosci. Remote Sensing, vol. GE-23, 246, 1985]. It has 7
automatically switchable ranges from +/-16 to +/-65536 nT (full scale) and
resolutions commensurate
with a 13-bit A/D converter in each range (+/-0.002 to +/-8 nT). Approxiamtely
8 vector-samples/sec are acquired, with information on fluctuating fields
in the 5-50-Hz range provided by a system of filters and peak detectors.
